Community Accord

Volunteering

Are you interested in making a real difference in people’s lives, while at the same time gaining transferrable skills?

Community Accord's volunteer mediator programmes are unique in the world. Participants of our Apprentice Mediator Programme first complete our rigorous 5 day mediation training course. After the classroom training, Apprentices participate in weekly supervised volunteer sessions where they work to resolve real disputes between neighbours and receive expert training and coaching from professional mediators. Participants of the Senior Mediator Programme, deepen their mediation skills and theoretical knowledge. Senior Mediators have the option to work toward accreditation through the National Open College Network (NOCN) and are on the pathway to our Associate Mediator and Trainer Programme. Our mediators tell us that out of their participation in our programmes, they have dramatically improved their own communication, negotiation and problem solving skills - skills that transfer to their work, family and social relationships.

Our volunteer programmes are offered free of charge only for Bradford District residents. If you are not a Bradford resident, but you would still like to gain real mediation experience, you may be interested in our 8-week Practical Experience Programme. Click Here
