As the UK’s largest community mediation service we have gained valuable experience on how to develop effective referral procedures with statutory and voluntary partners, to ensure that the mediation service has the greatest possible impact in a city.
Our team of trainers and staff mediators, who have more than 80 years collective mediation, training and management experience in a variety of cultural settings, have developed solid systems for managing and training volunteers to ensure a high quality of mediation, even in very challenging situations. Our volunteers currently manage nearly 1000 cases a year, resolving neighbour and complex multi-party disputes in a diverse multi-cultural district with over 480.000 residents.
If you wish to establish a community mediation centre, you will find that Community Accord offers a comprehensive package of services, which will cover all your needs;
Programme Development Service: After assessing the viability of a mediation programme in your city, we will help you establish funding and referral procedures that match your circumstances. Furthermore, we will support the programme manager recruitment process, to help you get the best possible person for the job.
Programme Manager Development Course: This course for community mediation programme managers includes 40-hour mediation training, an intensive 3-week theory and on-the-job training module, a 6 month follow-up audit and general management support for one year. This course guarantees that new programme managers have the skills and techniques required to successfully mediate disputes and effectively recruit and supervise volunteers. Managers will learn to promote and administer a strong community mediation programme in a way that ensures programme sustainability and accountability.
Volunteer Mediation Training Course: Community Accord’s trainers have delivered this world-class course to more than 2,500 volunteer mediators since 1993. This comprehensive five-day course teaches the skills and techniques of interest-based mediation for community and workplace applications with an intercultural perspective.
